Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi will remain with Paris Saint-Germain. The French top club decided to use the option to buy Icardi, who played on a rental basis in Paris this year. Argentina’s 27-year-old international is now tied to PSG until the summer of 2024
The French club took over Icardi on a rental basis from Internazionale last year. The Argentinian, who in the blue and black of the Milanese club twice became the top scorer of the Serie A and became captain there, had already been upset for months with the club management of Inter.
In the French league, Icardi scored twelve goals in twenty league matches. He formed an accurate attack trio with Kylian Mbappé (twenty goals) and Neymar (thirteen). The arrival of Icardi meant that Edinson Cavani, the all-time top shooter of PSG, lost his starting place. The 33-year-old Uruguayan wants to leave Paris this summer.
