Peugeot 308 Crossover (2022): New SUV from Peugeot

Peugeot is expanding its range of compact SUVs: In addition to the well-known five-door and station wagon body variants, the French seem to be on a high-level 308 offshoot to work that already Mid-2022 could come onto the market.

Coupé-SUV look for the crossover

Basically, the as yet nameless 308 Crossover will probably be on the same platform as the 308 or the Opel Astra – on the EMP2 platform. When it comes to the name, there is still a lot of guesswork: Will it be added to the name like “Crossover” or “RXH”? Or does the new one have its own name – like 4008? We will see. The AUTO BILD illustrator expects a Typical crossover sloping roof, five doors and an overall elongated silhouette. The design language of the new is probably more rounded than the 3008 and 5008 and is more based on the 308. Plastic planking and daytime running lights in a saber-tooth look should of course not be missing, recessed door handles are at least in the realm of possibility, even if so far more to be found with the sister brand DS. In addition, AUTO BILD is firmly expecting a moderate increase in height.

The modular system makes many engine options possible

Engines are available in abundance for the 308 Crossover, namely in principle all those that are also installed in the 308. The possible range extends from diesel and gasoline to the 180 and 225 hp plug-in hybrid drives. In terms of price, the crossover should be located above the 308 to underline its specialty. AUTO BILD is therefore expecting a starting price of around 32,000 euros. And Opel fans could also be interested in the Peugeot Crossover, because as is well known, the Rüsselsheim-based company has already announced a new Manta. The teaser picture showed a crossover – the raised 308 could, with a lot of imagination, also provide the basis for the new Manta edition.
