Peugeot apparently wants to bring each of its future car models onto the market in a sports version. It starts in spring 2021 with the 508 PSE (stands for “Peugeot Sport Engineered”). It was presented in late summer 2020. This means that the company will drive a clear future sportier strategy as before.
Peugeot announces further PSE models
After the Peugeot 508 PSE, the French manufacturer is apparently planning to do so in the future other models under the sports label respectively. As Peugeot CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato announced to the magazine “Auto Express”, the new strategy should be “a message to the existing market”. The Peugeot boss is making a clear statement.
The second offshoot could be the 208 PSE
In addition to the 508 PSE, there will also be a Successor to 208 GTi Reality. Even if the famous GTi abbreviation has to give way to the new PSE, fans of the brand can look forward to a sporty small car. However, it remains to be seen how a sporty 208 could be powered. So far, the e-208 has been the top model in the series with its 100 kW (136 hp). It is therefore conceivable that a 208 PSE could also be driven fully electrically. In addition to the small car, the announcement will probably also include the upcoming one 308 a PSE derivative receive. This could happen when driving the 508 PSE (System output: 360 hp) and thus become a plug-in hybrid model. In order to leave enough distance to its big brother, there is something with the compact French less power expected.
Conclusion: Peugeot gives a lot of gas
How Peugeot’s new sporting ambitions will be implemented in practice remains to be seen. But what can already be said now: The French don’t miss a thing and try to revamp the brand’s image bit by bit.
