In the next Pirates of the Caribbeanmovie, Johnny Depp will not be shown. Disney stopped working with the actor because he had too many problems in his personal life. But fans disagreed. They are convinced that Pirates of the Caribbean can’t be the same without Depps Captain Jack Sparrow. And so they started a petition, which has now been signed more than 500,000 times.
Johnny Depp has become an indispensable part of the media in recent months. And unfortunately for him, that media attention is not so positive this time. The actor is involved in various lawsuits, all of which are (indirectly) related to his breakup with actress Amber Heard.
End of collaboration
Those problems in his personal life also have a serious impact on Johnny Depp’s professional life. For example, Warner Bros. the collaboration with the actor ended at the end of last year. Depp would normally be in the third Fantastic Beastsfilm starred as Gellert Grindelwald, but was replaced by Mads Mikkelsen.
Disney also had a hard time with Johnny Depp’s personal problems. The studio had already hinted at a new one in May last year Pirates of the Caribbeanfilm without the actor, and therefore without Jack Sparrow. Excuse me, Captain Jack Sparrow. The studio later confirmed that news. The director of the new film had wanted to involve Depp, but Disney refused.
Fans of Pirates of the Caribbean and Johnny Depp were furious. They started a petition to convince Disney to let the actor be part of the new one after all Pirates-movie. Those fans’ goal was to collect 500,000 signatures. And they succeeded.
At this moment (Thursday March 4 at 3.45 pm) 524,237 have already signed the petition. The goal has now been adjusted to 1 million signatures. Whether Disney will take the signatures into account remains to be seen.
Pirates of the Caribbean
Disney is currently two Pirates of the Caribbeanmovies. One of them is certainly a reboot. It will focus on a female pirate. There are many rumors that Margot Robbie will play that role.
Even less is known about the second film (if possible). It is not yet clear whether that will be a sequel Dead Men Tell No Tales or also a reboot. But one thing is (currently) certain: Johnny Depp will not be featured.
