2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
While the Corvette C8 has just arrived on the roads, the American sports car is preparing for the future and the arrival of electrified versions.
Appeared in 1953, the Chevrolet Corvette quickly became the symbol of the American Dream. Evolving slowly over the years, it is now in the eighth generation. A grind that changes everything, since it puts its mechanics at the back. But it could go further by being available in electrified versions.
The first to emerge would be the plug-in hybrid version of the American coupe. No additional information was delivered, but this sports car should offer all-wheel drive. It should take the scheme of the Ferrari SF90 and aim for 700 hp.
An electric Corvette and a C8 Zora with more than 1,000 hp
If the name of E-Ray was mentioned for this future hybrid version, it nevertheless seems more suited to the electric Corvette which should see the light of day a year later. This variation should take over the basis of the Corvette C8 PHEV, but rid the chassis of its thermal engine in favor of a fully electric unit. The power level could be barely higher than its twin-engine sister.
The American brand will also organize a final bouquet at the end of this electrification plan put forward by Automobilemag: the Corvette C8 Zora, in tribute to Zora Arkus-Duntov, the engineer who gave birth to the Corvette. It would take in its back a V8 5.5 liters biturbo Corvette C8 ZR1 a more powerful electric endowment, to aim for a total of 1,014 hp. This version will not see the day before 2025 and will be limited to a few thousand copies.
