Police warn of fake SMS from the Federal Ministry of Finance

In an SMS, recipients are promised a refund from the Federal Ministry of Finance. The LKA Lower Saxony is now warning of this.

The State Criminal Police Office of Lower Saxony is currently warning of text messages that allegedly come from the Federal Ministry of Finance. The text messages bring (supposedly) good news. A repayment of the office is still pending and can be accessed via a link.
“You still have to receive a contribution of 254.33. Verify yourself and receive the amount via: http://ruckkehr -de .biz” is a variant of the SMS in circulation. Screenshots show the structure of the text messages, the exact However, the wording may vary:

If you follow this link, you will first land on an upstream bot query in which you should confirm that you are a human being.

After clicking on the link, the victims end up on a page that is based on the Ministry of Finance – including the logo, but with an English headline. Various banks are listed on this page, each with a link. These links then lead to phishing sites that are modeled on the online presence of the banks. Of course, after entering the access data, the victims do not end up on their online banking page, but their data is forwarded to scammers.

How to react to this SMS correctly
If you receive such a text message, do not click on any links contained in it. In addition to data theft, there is also a risk that the websites will be infected with malware. If you clicked on this link, install up-to-date antivirus software on your device and start a scan.
