Two politicians from the state of Saarland would like it if supporters are still welcome in the semi-finals of the German cup between 1. FC Saarbrücken and Bayer Leverkusen.
“A game without an audience is very sad for the home team and its fans,” said Oliver Luksic of the FDP. He was supported by his SPD colleague Christian Petry, who believes fans should keep their distance from the stands.
Fourth division 1. FC Saarbrücken has surprisingly qualified for the semi-finals. The match against the Bayer Leverkusen of trainer Peter Bosz has been put on the agenda for June 9 in Völklingen. Politicians Luksic and Petry hope that loyal supporters will still be welcome to the historic semifinal.
The German Bundesliga resumed the first major European league two weeks ago, after the outbreak of the corona virus. Spectators are not yet welcome at competitions.
