Prince William responds after Oprah interview Harry and Meghan: “Royal family is not racist”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah has caused quite a stir in recent days. In the interview, Meghan and Harry explained why they decided to distance themselves from the British royal family and racism was a major factor. But according to Prince William, that is not the case at all.

The interview of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry was published last Sunday. In it they told Oprah what their motives were for distancing themselves from the British royal family. Since then they have received a lot of support, but not everyone is happy with the interview. For example, the British royals are of course not too enthusiastic about the revelations of Meghan and Harry.

Racism within the British Royalty

In the interview with Oprah, Meghan told about how she answered questions within the British royal family about the skin color of her then unborn son Archie. Even before Archie was born, Meghan was also told that her son would not receive the same security as the other members of the British royal family.

In doing so, she insinuated that there would be racism within the royal family. Meghan didn’t mention it with those words. But when Oprah asked if they were asking that question because it would be a problem if he was too tan, Meghan replied, “If that’s the assumption you’re making, I think that’s a pretty safe one.”

Prince William: “The royal family is not racist”

Queen Elizabeth II previously responded to rumors of racism within the royal family. “The whole family is sad to hear how challenging the past years have been for Harry and Meghan. The issues that have been raised, especially those about racism, are of concern. While some memories may differ, they are taken very seriously and will be discussed privately within the family, ”said a letter signed by Queen Elizabeth II.

Now Prince William, Harry’s brother, is also responding to these rumors. The prince attended a school with his wife Kate, where reporters could quickly ask him some questions. In addition, William said that he had not spoken to his brother after the interview appeared. When asked whether he thinks the royal family is racist, he replied: “We are not a racist family at all.”
