The beach volleyball duo Sanne Keizer / Madelein Meppelink has started the 4-star tournament in Qatar with varying success. The 11th-placed couple started in group F with a victory against compatriots Marleen Ramond-Van Iersel and Pleun Ypma: 21-19 21-15. After that, Keizer and Meppelink had to recognize their superior in the European champions Anouk Vergé-Dépré and Joana Heidrich from Switzerland: 21-13 21-18.
The top tournament in Doha is the first event on the World Tour in almost a year. The top fifteen teams on the cleaned list – a maximum of two couples per country for both men and women – will qualify for Tokyo 2021.
