Numerous films and series from Studio Canal will disappear from the Playstation Store at the end of August. Titles you have bought yourself can then no longer be viewed.
PSN users will lose access to their purchased Studio Canal movies.
Sony had already stopped selling films via its Playstation Store in August last year. However, users have so far had the option of continuing to stream the titles they have already purchased via their console. This ends at the end of August. As Sony announces on playstation.com, numerous films and series from Studio Canal will disappear completely from the end of August.
Purchased content disappears from the library
“Beginning August 31, 2022, due to our evolving licensing agreements with content providers, you will no longer be able to view your previously purchased Studio Canal content and it will be removed from your video library,”
according to an official statement. More than 300 films and series are affected. Sony also lists exactly which titles are involved in the announcement. The films include “The Fountain”, “The Pianist” and “John Wick”. Unfortunately, the report does not state how and whether buyers will be compensated for the disappearance of their purchased film content. A corresponding statement from Sony is still pending.
