Since the launch of the PlayStation 5, delivery problems have been ubiquitous. It is often difficult for customers to find the console in stock somewhere at the regular price. There is currently no prospect of improvement, as Sony’s CFO Hiroki Totoki has now told investors. Although they want to increase deliveries in the coming months, a significant increase in availability should not be expected, said Totoki, according to a report at VGC.
One of the reasons for the delays is the global shortage of chips, with which the entire industry is struggling. According to Totoki, Sony is currently working on solutions to this problem. For example, you could adjust the design to be less dependent.
PS4 is about to be beaten
The goal is to exceed the sales of the PS4 after their market launch. Those were 14.8 million in the second year.
Most recently, the presentation of the quarterly figures said that the deliveries of the PS5 are currently just above those where the PS4 was at the same time. The PS5 sold 7.8 million units in the same period, while the PS4 sold 7.6 million.
