PSV thought about the next round for a while, but is still out of the Europa League

Eran Zahavi made the PSV fans believe in a stunt. The Israeli striker made it 2-0 with a header and a more than nice free kick before half time.

Zahavi headed a Ryan Thomas corner into the net in the 23rd minute. A minute before the halftime signal, he curled a fantastic free kick into the Greek goal.

After the break, the buttocks squeezed, and PSV immediately got away well. Mady Camara appeared in front of the goal and hit the post. Then another Greek free kick hit the crossbar and Olympiacos kept attacking. Until just before time without success.

Substitute Ahmed Hassan Koka

In the 88th minute it really went wrong. PSV goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo initially managed to save a header, but the rebound of substitute Ahmed Hassan Koka put an end to the Eindhoven dreams.

Just like Ajax earlier tonight, Olympiakos therefore qualifies for the last sixteen of the Europa League.

PSV does not have time to spend long on the elimination. The important match against Ajax is scheduled for Sunday in the battle for the championship.

‘Crucial match’

“It was unnecessary and hurts now, but we should not mourn for too long”, Zahavi said afterwards. In the battle for the championship, the important match against Ajax is on the program on Sunday.

Captain Dumfries joined Zahavi. “It is a real shame that you give it away like that in the final phase. Tonight we may be disappointed as a team, but from tomorrow the focus must be on Sunday. Then we have to be there again and accelerate. That is a crucial game.”

Ajax starts the game with PSV with a lead of 6 points. The team from Amsterdam also played a match less.
