Racing Unleashed: Fabian Vettel’s turbulent sim racing debut

Fabian Vettel, brother of four-time Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian, celebrated his debut in the Racing Unleashed sim racing championship on Saturday.
Everything started off perfectly for Vettel in the formula cockpit at Zurich Airport. The native of Heppenheim also benefited from the competition system. A qualifying KO race takes place in reverse championship order. As a guest starter without a point, he was allowed to start from the first place. Only Michael Frei was able to catch him in the sprint run. Second place on the grid for the debut.
In the main race, however, it quickly became apparent how strong the top pilots in the Challenger League are. Gradually, the competition passed, which unwound significantly more training kilometers in advance. Vettel: “The pace of the drivers is really unbelievable. Unfortunately I didn’t have much time to train, but I’m really motivated to get close to them. Maybe I will challenge them again this year or next.”
He was still able to establish himself in the front midfield before he was shot by Tiziano Caponio in lap five. Later in the race, another mishap followed, which finally maneuvered him out of the points and prize money area. In the end it was only enough for 17th place. “I made a big mistake. In the slipstream, I lost the rear. All the other mistakes were made by the other drivers, which unfortunately affected my race, but that’s motorsport.
After all, he was able to keep the other guest starter James Walker, better known as “MRJWW”, well behind him. The British car vlogger was 21. Siro Zambra secured the race victory in front of Michael Frei and Marcos Valverde.

The podium is completed by the German Angelo Michel.
In the Racer League (class without driving aids), Alejandro Sanchez celebrates his home win in Barcelona. The Spaniard was easily able to keep the already crowned 2022 champion Michal Smidl behind him throughout the race.
The podium is completed by the German Angelo Michel. The driver of the Munich Lounge is in third place in the championship and is heading for his best season in his many years with Racing Unleashed. Michel: “I had a good start and was able to work my way forward. Then I tried to stay close to Michal. But he was too fast. At least I had a good lead at the back.”
