remote updates will start this summer
After final handling in dealerships, Volkswagen’s new electric range can be updated every 3 months without manual intervention.
The ID.3’s infotainment system gave Volkswagen a hard time. This led to a postponement of the launch and even delivery of software-incomplete cars.
This spring, the brand will update its new generation of electric cars. Free, the operation must be carried out in the brand’s dealerships. It only concerns the first ID.3 delivered. Since the end of February, all copies already have this evolution called “ID.2.1”.
Updates every 3 months
This summer will be the time for remote updates, or “Over-the-Air”. Volkswagen adds that they are intended to improve the performance of the system, and “May also include new functions or customization options”.
The brand also promises an update every 3 months for the ID.3 and ID.4. “This ensures that all ID models will keep the same software level as new vehicles, throughout their lifespan.”, says Volkswagen. Another consequence is that depreciation should be lower on used models.
