The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) is currently looking for people to support the health authorities full-time – and pays them at least 2,325 euros gross per month.
Especially students of medical subjects or people with basic knowledge of health science are desired. Therefore, interested parties from other disciplines can also apply, for example with a natural, sports or social science background.
Just recently, Chancellor Angela Merkel announced new jobs in the health authorities in her video message and praised their work. The employees made a “great contribution”, she said – and meant, among other things, the day-to-day business, which includes interviewing Covid-19 patients, telephone contact tracing and testing in the apartments. In addition to handling the software, these activities are also part of the new job advertisements.
Job requires a high level of stress tolerance, flexibility and motivation
It is a full-time job lasting six months; which probably means for students to have to take a vacation semester. Admittedly, entry into a better-paying profession is then delayed. But if you lost your part-time job during the exit restrictions, you could increase your budget a little as a containment scout – also affectionately known as the “corona detective”.
However, experience shows that the offer is well received. At the beginning of the pandemic, the RKI was looking for additional staff. According to information from “Welt”, thousands had registered, and by May a good 500 people had been hired; including not only medical students, but also IT system electronics technicians, emergency paramedics, alternative practitioners and flight attendants from Lufthansa.
This time too, the number of positions is limited to 500, writes “Welt”. It is said that giving the applicants for the first job a second chance is not enough. These did not meet the new requirements. The job demands a lot of “flexibility, mobility, special forms of work” from the candidate.
The application deadline is September 14th, midnight
Therefore, the applicants should also have a strong motivation, high level of independence, resilience and stress tolerance. Knowledge of German at native language level is also required. The institute provides online training documents for familiarization.
The application deadline is September 14th, midnight, work starts in October. Interested parties can register via this portal. You can find a list of the health authorities searching here.
