The RTX 4070 should actually be able to compete with the RTX 3090, but the card is apparently even faster.

The specifications of the Geforce RTX 4070 were recently leaked. According to this, the graphics card from Nvidia should have 7,168 FP32 shaders and 10 GB of video memory, which is connected via a 160-bit wide interface with 18 GB per second. This would mean that the upcoming graphics card would already be at the level of the RTX 3090. Now new data are making the rounds: The well-known leaker Kopite7kimi claims to have learned that Nvidia on the RTX 4070 the

wants to use. According to this, the card should have 7,680 FP32 shaders.
As fast as an RTX 3090 Ti?
There are also new values for the other specifications. The RTX 4070 should even have 12 GB of video memory, which is connected via a 192-bit interface and works with a maximum of 21 GB per second. This would not only give buyers 2 GB more video memory, but also a significantly higher bandwidth from the previously assumed 360 GB per second to 504 GB per second. With these values, the Geforce RTX 4070 should achieve 11,000 points in the Timespy benchmark. This would be about 1,000 points more than with the previously assumed values. As a result, the RTX 4070 would poach in the territory of the current flagship RTX 3090 Ti.
Storage too full
The Geforce RTX 4070 is expected in the fall. However, it could also happen that Nvidia could postpone certain models of the RTX 4000 generation due to overfull warehouses. Many retailers and board partners have complained in recent weeks that their stocks of old RTX 3000 graphics cards are still too high. Either way, the RTX 4070 could be a very good choice for gamers.
