With the Zen 4 and Ryzen 7000, AMD will be introducing a line-up that supports DDR5 memory for the first time. AMD is also producing consumer chips using the 5 nm process for the first time. Ryzen 7000 should offer speeds of over 5 GHz and also support PCIe 5.0 with the right motherboard. It’s the first reboot of the desktop range since the Ryzen 5000 generation, the label

Ryzen 6000

was reserved for mobile processors.

AMD also seals the end of Zen 3 and, even more seriously, the AM4 socket. AM4 was first used in 2016 and has been used consistently in the consumer segment since then, including in all Ryzen CPUs.

You can follow the live stream on AMD’s YouTube channel, and a replay will be provided on the Ryzen website an hour later.
