Bad news for fans of Borat. Because creator and actor Sacha Baron Cohen has made it clear that there will be no third film about the legendary character. The reason? “It has become way too dangerous!”
Sacha Baron Cohen released a second film about the infamous Kazakh journalist Borat Sagdiyev out of nowhere at the end of last year. As usual, that film was given a gigantic long title: Borat Subsequent Movie Film: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.
The recordings for the films do not always go smoothly. For example, Baron Cohen said during an interview with Entertainment Tonight that he had to wear a bulletproof vest several times. “And you want to do as little as possible in your life.”
“I was very lucky that this time I got off unscathed, but no, I will not do it again”, it was clear. A third film is therefore not coming. Fans will then only be the first two Boratmovies again.
“20 percent more extreme than Trump”
It remains to be seen whether it will actually come to that. Sacha Baron Cohen had already announced that in 2006 Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan would not be continued.
What got the actor to go undercover again? The election of Donald Trump as President of the United States. “Borat is effective because he’s 20 percent more extreme than Trump,” Baron Cohen previously explained to Entertainment Weekly.
“He is 20 percent more misogynistic. He is 20 percent more behind the white supremacy and behind the imprisonment of children. I mean, the one thing Borat is less enthusiastic about than Trump is paying women for sex. ”
