Saudi Arabia has announced the construction of a completely car-free city with one million inhabitants as part of its futuristic megacity Neom on the Red Sea. In the 170-kilometer-long place called “The Line” there will be no cars, roads or CO2 emissions, announced Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. “Modern cities are polluted, clogged, noisy and not connected to nature, which affects the quality of our lives,” the developers wrote on Twitter on Monday. In 2030, “The Line” is expected to have a population of one million and attract five million tourists.
