After three consecutive defeats in the Eredivisie, sc Heerenveen has taken another point. The Frisians did that in the home game against RKC Waalwijk, which had a predominance for a long time. The game ended in 1-1.
Heerenveen quickly took the lead, according to a not entirely unknown recipe. Henk Veerman tapped in, after preparatory work by Joey Veerman.
After that, it was mainly RKC who was on the ball. That led to the equalizing goal in the 56th minute. Richard van der Venne shot ‘out of the loop’, after a cross from Thierry Lutonda. Just before time, Vitalie Damascan was close to the winning goal for the Brabanders, but the substitute hit the post through goalkeeper Erwin Mulder’s fingers.
Tibor Halilovic made his debut as a basic player at sc Heerenveen. The 25-year-old Croat previously played for HNK Rijeka. Siem de Jong, another newcomer, started on the bench. He previously played against Fortuna Sittard for the first time. De Jong came in after an hour.
Trainer Johnny Jansen was missing from the couch at Heerenveen, because he is still struggling with the after-effects of an infection with the corona virus. As before against Fortuna Sittard, he was replaced by Hennie Spijkerman.
