Schnitzer X6 40d: SUV coupé with M systems

If not a V8 biturbo, then at least visually strong. For 517 euros you get the painted engine look. Performance increase? Recommended!
As already mentioned, AC Schnitzer head of development Roman Fenners didn’t find anything special in this SUV either, until they realized that the performance increase for the M340d that was already in the program also fitted this model. A set of aero parts (for models with the M package) was quickly created on the computer and a set of sport springs was developed, and the in-house 22-inch AC1 wheels were adapted for the X6. 275 in the front, ultra-wide 315 slippers in the back.
Schnitzer X6 with 48-volt mild hybrid system
The additional electrical power of 11 hp should help when starting and accelerating. Another 45 hp and 90 Nm come from AC Schnitzer via the additional control unit. For classification: A current X6 M has only 40 Newton meters less torque.

The series cockpit offers all the amenities that such a steam chair needs. Schnitzer adds a little more aluminum.
What does the tuning really bring? Normally we have tested most production cars, the X6 40d is unfortunately missing with us, just like with the colleagues from AUTO BILD and AUTO BILD ALLRAD. No problem, the tuner puts instructions in the car for us on how to put the engine back to series performance with a plug. And that’s exactly how we set off, over the freeway and winding country roads.

You’re up to 200 km/h in no time, but then it gets pretty tough on the autobahn, to be honest. Of course, in terms of aerodynamics, this X6 stands in the wind like a wall unit, even with the Schnitzer wings. However, a top speed of 248 km/h is not an impossibility. But: Turning off the engine all the time doesn’t fit anyway. It’s better to let it go, level off steep inclines and occasionally register how such a pot with 2000 revs and 200 km/h seems to cheat physics.
Handling close to the M models
On the country roads you can paddle in manual mode. It’s really fun with the larger Schnitzer seesaws. Banking and understeer in the corners? No, with the lower chassis and wider wheels, the handling is close to that of the M models.

The mix of M package and Schnitzer fits like a glove. Roof wings and wide 315 rolls impress.
And the longitudinal dynamics? Really impressive how the X6 comes out of the blocks, raises the front and claws its 22-inch all-wheel drive rollers into the asphalt. The movement specifies 5.5 seconds, the Schnitzer apparatus completes the standard sprint in just 5.2 seconds. And with the plug that activates the serial power? 5.7 seconds! Not bad! A look at the consumption lap is even better: 10.9 liters per 100 kilometers. For the weight and performance class, that’s really okay.
