Sevilla reached the eighth finals of the battle for the Copa del Rey, the Spanish cup tournament on Saturday. The team of coach Julen Lopetegui had a lot of trouble with second division Leganés and only won after extra time: 0-1.
The game was played in the stadium of Atlético Madrid because the field of Leganés had suffered too much from the winter weather in Spain last week. Sevilla, with Luuk de Jong, Oussama Idrissi, Karim Rekik and Nemanja Gudelj in the starting line-up, barely had any chances in a moderate duel from both sides. In the sixth minute of extra time, it was Lucas Ocampos who scored the only goal.
Earlier in the evening, Levante had joined the last sixteen with the greatest difficulty at the expense of second division team Fuenlabrada. The second club from Valencia needed penalties for that. Cádiz (against Girona) and Deportivo Alavés (against Almería) were clubs that flew out against a team that is one level lower.
