Skoda Elroq (2024): New E-SUV with Enyaq technology

Skoda wants to expand its electric range with a new entry-level SUV. The Czechs want to position themselves below the Enyaq, which is very popular with customers. Because: With a base price of 42,100 euros that is SUV not particularly cheap. There is still room for a cheaper entry. How To Cars has drawn the electric Karoq brother.

Visually, the compact SUV could be based on the recently presented Vision 7S study – which is particularly evident from the steeply positioned T-design headlights, which run across the front in a continuous band, and the grille above them. The rear should adapt to the smaller dimensions and be a bit steeper than the Enyaq.

Electric SUV with dimensions in Karoq format

In terms of dimensions, the Elroq (will probably be called differently at the start of the market) should be below the Enyaq classify At 4.65 meters, it is in the Kodiaq region, while the Elroq will be closer to the Karoq. In other words: a length of around 4.4 meters, around 1.84 meters wide and around 1.60 meters high.
The name also suggests this, as it consists of the building blocks “El”, which should stand for “Electric”, and “roq”, which indicates the proximity to the Karoq hints. The technical basis will be a shortened MEB platform (modular electrical construction kit) of the Enyaq offer, which probably also the upcoming VW ID.2 will have.

Engines between 150 and 265 hp conceivable

For a good entry-level price, it could be the 110 kW (150 hp) powerful motor with rear-wheel drive and 48 kWh battery from the ID.3 (not currently available). According to VW, this is enough for a range of around 349 kilometers according to WLTP. The Elroq should also have a range of over 300 kilometers.
For this would be drives of the Enyaq conceivable in the more compact Czech, ranging from 132 kW (180 hp) up to 150 kW (204 hp). Whether he also uses the engines with 195 kW (265 hp), or the 220 kW (290 hp) will take over the strong drive of the RS variant depends on whether the Elroq gets the front end of the ID.4 or Enyaq, or is based on the smaller ID.3

Probably a small surcharge to the Karoq

It will take a while before the market launch in 2024, however, the price of the Elroq should then be slightly higher than that Karoq settle. It currently starts at 26,320 euros. around 30,000 euros should be realistic. For comparison: With a base price of 42,100 euros (as of September 2022), the Enyaq 8670 euros more than its combustion counterpart Kodiaq.
