Basketball: Hammink succeeds Franke in Leiden

7.56 pm: Geert Hammink will coach Zorg en Zekerheid Leiden next season. It is for the former pro, who played in the American professional league NBA, his second job as head coach. In the 2018/2019 season, Hammink held that position at Dutch Windmills, the club from Dordrecht that left the competition prematurely due to bankruptcy.

Hammink (50) succeeds Rolf Franke in Leiden, who finished fourth in the prematurely ended season. “I am very happy to be the coach of a club the size of Zorg en Zekerheid Leiden, with all its history, and a fantastic fan base. I think there was a click right away in the first conversation and, together with the players, we will work hard to convert that positive energy into successful and attractive basketball ”, says Hammink.

Golf: Park wins first real professional tournament in South Korea

2:50 PM: In South Korea, a golf tournament for professionals on a real golf course has been completed for the first time since December. Park Hyun-kyung won the women’s tournament at the Lakewood Country Club in Yangju and earned 165,000 euros for her win.

Worldwide, professional golf tours are still suspended due to the pandemic, but South Korea thinks it has had the worst. Professional football and professional baseball have already started there again.

Park finished with a 67-round final round and won the Korean LPGA Championship with a total of 17 strokes under par. She had one stroke less than her compatriots Lim Hee-jeong and Bae Seon-woo (68). The winner cuddled alone with her father afterwards, who acted as her caddy during the tournament.

Audience was not allowed in the tournament. The caddies wore mouth masks and the players remained as far apart as possible.
