Sonic the Hedgehog, the film adaptation of the eponymous Sega character will be continued. That news has been confirmed by film production company Paramount Pictures.
It can be crazy in the film industry. When announcing Sonic the Hedgehog last year, fans smashed the project because they no longer recognized the Sega character. Also the special effects then received a lot of criticism. To get rid of those negatives, the release of the films was even postponed by two months at the time.
Now, a year later, it turns out Sonic the Hedgehog not as bad as expected. The film has already raised more than 275 million euros. This makes it the best-selling video game film of all time. Due to the unexpected success, the film now even has a sequel. For this, film production company Paramount Pictures is once again working with director Jeff Fowler. The collaboration with screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller will also be extended.
At the moment, no information is known about the story of the sequel. In the first movie, Sonic (Ben Schwartz) took on the evil Doctor Robotnik (Jim Carrey) with the help of his new human friend Tom (James Marsden). It is expected that the trio will simply return to the set. It is still guesswork for other characters and actors, although some fans claim that other characters from the Sonic series, such as Tails (the two-tailed fox), will make their appearance this time.
When the film appears on the big screen, it has not yet been announced. According to the American entertainment magazine Variety, the production of the film has not yet started. We are already looking forward to the new adventure of the blue video game character!
