Opinions differ on Tesla cars. Some think they are completely overrated, others almost have a cult following for the American newcomer brand with its battery cars. The whole thing is similar to Apple and the iPhone. There, too, there are believing disciples and others who consider this smartphone to be completely overrated.
The fact is: Tesla does things differently. It is operated almost exclusively via a touch screen, which is 13 inches in the Model X. and Tesla also operates its own network of charging stations along the motorways in Europe, called Superchargers here. One can be Tesla with a 100-kWh battery, but of course you can also charge it at the German 230-volt socket – it then takes two days.

There are many problems with the Tesla headlights

Second typical Tesla weak point: the headlights and their control unit. There are a lot of disturbances here – such as different light levels on the left and right, delayed flashing of the high beam, striking daytime running lights, intermittent turn signals. Since all of this is also checked during a general inspection, the fresh sticker is also important here.

Bearings and joints suffer early from the 2.5 tons curb weight.

There are almost no reports of weaknesses in the drive. The electric motor and single-speed gearbox units placed on each axle appear to be solid. Only the drive shafts – especially the front ones, which also have to cope with the steering angle – are sometimes overwhelmed by the enormous torque of the electric motors. Good lubrication must be ensured here, which is why intact cuffs are important.

Over the years, users get used to the peculiarities of their Tesla

So far, we have not received any reports of the battery capacity declining. Model X owners are much more upset about the delayed delivery of spare parts after accidents, but also about Tesla peculiarities such as scratch-sensitive surfaces in the interior or the non-folding two-row seats of the seven-seater. Too slow or faltering electrical support for the rear wing doors and the tailgate are also criticized.

But there is another parallel to Apple products here: users apparently get used to the peculiarities over the years and also accept the sometimes down-to-earth treatment by the Tesla customer center (own jargon: Tesla store) and stay with the brand. This stands like no other for the restart with battery cars. One should acknowledge that without envy.
