If it remains financially in the red, Chinese electric car maker Nio announces a record third quarter 2020 deliveries.
Tesla’s challenger in the Chinese car market, Nio has just revealed its latest quarterly results with a record number of deliveries. Between July and September of this year, the manufacturer indicates that it has sold 12,206 vehicles, or nearly 2,000 more compared to the 10,331 deliveries recorded in the second quarter of 2020. Competitor of the Tesla Model Y, the SUV ES6 remains the most popular model of the range. With a total of 8,660 deliveries, it is ahead of SS8 and EC6, which respectively sold 3,530 and 16 copies over the period.
On the financial side, the manufacturer announces a turnover of 666.6 million US dollars over the period, or 562 million euros. An increase compared to the previous quarter which does not allow Nio to enter the green. In the third quarter, the automaker recorded a net loss of $ 154 million, or 130 million euros.
Good prospects for the fourth quarter
Confident in the progress of its deliveries, in particular thanks to the arrival of its new 100 kWh battery, the manufacturer intends to end the year with a bang.
“ We estimate that we will deliver 16,500 to 17,000 vehicles in the coming fourth quarter »Declared the boss and founder of the brand, William Bin Li, indicating that he had already achieved a record month in October with more than 5,000 deliveries.
