That’s why the lights go out at 8:30 p.m. today






Today, March 26, 2022 at 8:30 p.m., almost all the lights should go out. This also applies to communities and companies. The reason.

Today, March 26, 2022, i.e. the last Saturday of this month, is Earth Hour again. Then you should switch off the lights for an hour from 8.30 p.m. today to send a signal for climate protection. In addition, in 2022 a common sign for peace in Ukraine, in Europe and around the world will be sent.

Municipalities and companies are also involved

On this map you can immediately see whether your city is participating in Earth Hour 2022. You can also find the list of companies participating in Earth Hour 2022 there. When a community or business participates in Earth Hour, it means that from 8:30 p.m. onwards, all lights on monuments, landmarks, churches or official buildings in the community in question are switched off. In the case of companies, the light in the company facilities is switched off – which in many cases should not be a problem after 8.30 p.m. on a Saturday. Private individuals can also be displayed on the Earth Hour map. To do this, you must register here. Only your first names and postcode area will be published.

Turn off the lights today from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. The organizers provide further tips for attending Earth Hour here. You can take a photo of the lights off and post it on social media with the hashtags #LightsOff and #EarthHour. You should also write why you are participating in Earth Hour.

Difference to Earth Night

During Earth Night, which takes place in September, the lights are switched off not just for an hour, but for the whole night until the next day. The Earth Night aims to set an example against light pollution.
