You shouldn’t rinse glasses before putting them in the dishwasher.
You may have been told that you should always rinse glasses by hand before putting them in the dishwasher. However, this primarily leads to the glasses being damaged over time.
According to Hunker, a do-it-yourself website, the cleaning agent acts directly on the surface when rinsing the glasses.
In the long term, this can lead to permanent “etching” or microscopic scratches that make the glass appear cloudy.
Using too much detergent can also cause burns. If you notice that your dishes lose their shine after a few rinses, you should definitely use less detergent.
