The German industry association game e.V. published the official top 20 of the German console and PC charts in May. In contrast to the weekly public chart placements, this top list mixes all PC and console releases into cross-platform charts. The result is a more coherent overall picture, albeit without concrete figures. In addition, the charts are based only on physical surveys and projections.
Unsurprisingly, Tom Nook with his Animal Crossing: New Horizons Defend the top of the charts in Germany. The switch game is the third best selling video game in German retail for the third month in a row. This success story will probably come to a temporary end in June, because The Last of Us: Part II will most likely ascend the throne.
In May there were no big newcomers. The biggest publication on paper was probably Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. But this is – also on paper – not only a somewhat niche JRPG, but also an HD remaster and a game that was only released for one system. From this point of view, the entry to number 4 on the charts is probably worthy of honor.
