The Foodspring founders and previous co-CEOs Philipp Schremm and Tobias Schüle are leaving their company after eight years. Gerrit Meier, formerly Redbull manager, is to take over from her. The founders would accompany Meier during the transition phase and stay with the company as a consultant until the end of the year, the company said in a press release.

Foodspring sells protein shakes, snacks and dietary supplements, especially for athletes. In 2019 the company was taken over by the food company Mars. The sales price was not mentioned by those involved at the time, but according to insiders it was around 300 million euros. After the takeover, apart from Mars, only the founding duo held shares in Foodspring. According to Gründerszene information, they have now completely sold their shares with their departure.

“We believe that we have reached the right moment to hand over to Gerrit Meier as the new CEO (…) for this next stage of growth,” said co-founder Tobias Schüle in a statement. Meier previously worked at Redbull as CEO and Managing Director of Red Bull Media House. He officially ended his work there in December 2020; according to media reports, he left the company at the beginning of last year.
