Announced by the Spring concept, the future series electric Dacia is already driving in Europe under camouflage.
The electric car is growing with a market share now greater than 5% in France in 2020. On the other hand, the average price of a new vehicle remains very high, inaccessible for many. Dacia intends to shake up this, with a very affordable model, which is becoming clearer this week.
Accessible electricity is being prepared
In March, without the Geneva Motor Show, Renault’s “low cost” brand presented the Spring concept car. European version of the City K-ZE sold in China, this raised city car is derived from the Kwid originally designed for India.
Under the Renault badge in Asia, it will therefore land with us with the Dacia logo. Before that, the car tweaks its specific settings for Europe. New photos taken in Romania and posted on Facebook confirm its presence on the old continent. Charged in a parking lot, this prototype has camouflage, hiding a recognizable Renault K-ZE with its blue logos and inserts. The only evolution, we can clearly see a Dacia steering wheel, and a different central touch screen.
The launch of the Dacia Spring will take place in early 2021, with a price hoped for under € 20,000 excluding bonuses. The Romanian city could take over the 22 kWh battery of the Twingo ZE, which would be enough to provide 200 kilometers of autonomy. All this will be confirmed when the final version is presented, probably scheduled for the end of 2020.
