The new AUTO BILD 21/2022

I was chatting with a friend these days. Sure, about cars. He wants to move to a sunny island, so he wants to buy a robust e-car and charge it with solar power, but he doesn’t believe in the e-transformation in Germany. “It never works,” he says. I only agree with him that it will never work for all of the approximately 50 million vehicles in this country.
His suggestion: with nuclear energy – because we would never have enough green electricity from wind, sun and water here – produce hydrogen or in one step more eFuels. This is the fuel that burns and also bubbles emissions out of the tailpipe, but only as much CO2 as was previously extracted from the atmosphere during its production. Climate-neutral and – because no new CO2 is produced – also good.

How To Cars Editor-in-Chief Tom Drechsler.
Also: Today’s cars can fill up with it, the entire infrastructure from tankers to gas stations already exists. In AUTO BILD you have recently been reading more about hydrogen cars, eFuels ideas and plans for the future. I always ask myself: We all – if we had paid attention – learned how to do it at school: electrolysis. Why are we still at the beginning? Rechargeable batteries ensure mobility now because there are no alternatives in the foreseeable future.
