The new AUTO BILD 47/2021

As Angela Merkel said: “With your head through the wall you will not go. In the end, the wall always wins.” She is right, and these days there are some who try anyway. Stellantis boss Carlos Tavares wanted to outsource the Opel works, there are also good arguments for this (better capacity utilization in the huge multi-brand group), but the plan is buried after heavy resistance. Rüsselsheim and Eisenach remain 100 percent Opel, you could have known beforehand that a fire wall has been reached.
VW boss Herbert Diess wants to break up the encrustations in Wolfsburg, which is correct, but with his, let’s say, undiplomatic style, he is reaching its limits. Of course he says: But I’m right! But maybe the path that brand CEO Ralf Brandstätter is taking is the smarter one. Take the 14,000 of the 60,000 VW employees who still build cars in Wolfsburg with them instead of offending them. Both managers have the same goal: future, success!

With my head against the wall, I also have this fear when I think of the traffic light coalition pounding behind closed doors and our mobility. I’m afraid nothing good is rolling towards us.
