Taking over the configuration of the new eVMP platform from the PSA group, the new generation of the Peugeot 5008 could also be entitled to a 100% electric version.
After starting its offensive in the small segments with the e-208 and the e-2008, Peugeot is tackling the higher categories. While the brand confirmed at the end of May the arrival of an electric 3008 “made in France” for 2023, the British site AutoExpress evokes the launch of an electric version of the 5008 on a similar horizon.
In practice, this should happen with the launch of the new generation of the model that will introduce the new eVMP platform. On the technical side, there is no official information yet other than that communicated by the manufacturer when presenting its half-year results. Modular, the eVMP platform will be able to accommodate two or four-wheel drive powertrains and integrate battery packs ranging from 60 to 100 kWh in capacity for a range of up to 650 kilometers.
Also in hybrid
Beyond this new 100% electric offer, AutoExpress also indicates the arrival of hybrid versions within the 5008 range. On the program: the “light” hybrid in 48 volts but also the rechargeable hybrid.
