Emmanuel Macron revealed that from May 12, citizens who wish will be able to register on a complementary list to receive unused serums. This new register is open to any adult, without distinction.

(AFP) The announcement was unexpected. This Thursday, on the occasion of the inauguration of the first major Paris vaccine venue, French President Emmanuel Macron revealed that from Thursday 12 May the French will be able “without age limit” to be vaccinated with doses of serum not used.

The goal: “not to spoil” and to be sure that “all the doses are fully used”. So in six days, any French over 18 years old will be able to make an appointment via the Doctolib site “from 4 pm for the next day”, and thus receive an unused dose the day before.

This announcement aims in particular to achieve the objective of 20 million first doses injected on May 15 that the government has set. According to the latest data communicated by the French Ministry of Health, 82% of this goal was met on Tuesday, with 16.4 million first injections listed.

To be sure to pass this symbolic threshold on time, Emmanuel Macron also announced that the opening of vaccination to over 50s would be brought forward by five days, from May 15 to May 10. French people aged 16 and 17 “at very high risk of severe form” can also receive their first injection, completed by the Directorate General of Health.

As a reminder, the French authorities believe that vaccination remains the best way to reduce the virus in France. An idea shared by those of Luxembourg, where the list to receive a residual dose records 20,000 registrations.
