The Super Bowl took place last night. This is not only a highlight for fans of American Football, but music fans also get their money’s worth every year during the halftime show. This year it was provided by Canadian singer The Weeknd. And he turned it into a great show with all his greatest hits.
This year, The Weeknd had the honor of hosting the Super Bowl halftime show. Due to the corona crisis, it looked different than usual, with fewer people and more cardboard signs in the audience. But that clearly didn’t get to The Weeknd’s heart. He put on a stunning performance.
$ 7 million out of pocket
Saved for his performance The Weeknd no expense or effort. He already announced that the show would be fully live and that he would pay 7 million dollars (about 5.8 million euros) out of his own pocket to make the show as impressive as possible. And that investment paid off.
Hundreds of dancers, strings and choir members were brought in for the performance. But of course the star of the evening still remained Abel Makkonen Tesfaye aka The Weeknd himself. The Canadian came out with a collection of his greatest hits, some of which he had given a whole new look for the occasion.

Those who feel like seeing The Weeknd in action because of the performance can do so on 28 and 29 September 2022 in the Antwerp Sportpaleis.
That concert was actually planned for last year, but could not take place due to the outbreak of the corona virus. The new date was in the autumn of 2021, but that too seemed too optimistic. That’s why The Weeknd announced last week that his tour will start in January 2022 and that he will therefore arrive in our country in September next year.
