Like Outlook, the Thunderbird mail program offers appointment management. How to integrate your Outlook and Google appointments and synchronize them.
Thunderbird: Integrate and synchronize Outlook and Google appointments
The Thunderbird calendar function can be opened by clicking on the small icon (“switch to calendar tab”) in the top right corner of the program interface. First, the yellow highlighted warning appears “All calendars are currently deactivated”, then activate the new local calendar on the left with a click of the mouse.
This new calendar makes sense above all if you synchronize it with the appointments of an already existing private or business calendar. For the Google calendar and thus also for the appointments from your Android smartphone, please install the Thunderbird add-on Provider for Google Calendar. Next click in the Thunderbird calendar view on the left on the plus sign next to “Calendar” and continue with “On the network -› Google Calendar “.
The appointments in Thunderbird can be synchronized with the Google calendar. To do this, download an add-on and allow it to access the calendar.
In the next step, type in your Gmail address, log in with your Google account and follow the confirmation steps. To do this, activate your Google Mail account again in the “Create new calendar” dialog, and optionally activate the “Calendar weeks” and “Holidays”. With “Next -› Finish ”you complete the setup.
If you then create a new entry in Thunderbird, on your Android phone or in the Google calendar in the browser, it will appear on all platforms. In the Thunderbird calendar view, simply click on “Synchronize” in the upper left corner.
The Freemical tool converts Outlook appointments so that Thunderbird also displays them. However, there is no automatic synchronization.
Working with Outlook appointments is less convenient. Because Thunderbird only allows the import here, but not the bidirectional synchronization. That said, unzip and run Freemical. The tool then searches for the Outlook calendar automatically and offers the option of exporting appointments as an ICS file using the “Free them” button. You will find this in the directory of the previously unzipped Freemical files. Back in the Thunderbird calendar view, please press the Alt key and import the appointment display from the ICS calendar file via “File -› Open – ›Calendar file”.
