Thunderstorms, hail and tornadoes are approaching: this is how you can see now whether you are threatened






A storm front is moving over Germany, even tornadoes are possible. This is how you can find out now if you are at risk.

The German weather service DWD warns of a massive thunderstorm front moving over Germany. There is even a risk of severe weather for several days. The DWD expects thunderstorms, hail and storms for the next few days. Even tornadoes, i.e. hurricanes, are possible. Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia are particularly at risk.

You can see the current threat immediately

On this website of the DWD you can see the weather situation for the whole of Germany at a glance. The areas that are particularly at risk from storms are highlighted in colour. You can see the orange colored bar that runs across central Germany. The north with, for example, Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and Bremen as well as Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the south with the Allgäu, Upper and Lower Bavaria are apparently not threatened.

Tip: Click on the region that interests you on the map with the mouse pointer. Alternatively, enter the desired place name in the search field above. You will then immediately see the current situation.

You can read the DWD’s current warning situation report here. A current excerpt from it: “From the midday hours on NRW and Rhineland-Palatinate, severe thunderstorms with increased DANGER OF SEVERE WEATHER! Locally extremely heavy heavy rain of around 40 l/m² in a short time, large hail of up to 5 cm and heavy storm to hurricane gusts with speeds between 100 and 130 km/h, Bft 10 to 12. Isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out.”

Storms already caused damage in Germany yesterday, Thursday, as reported by the Tagesschau. However, these thunderstorms were somewhat weaker than originally expected.
