Tip: forward signal messages to Whatsapp

There are two options when you want to forward a signal message to Whatsapp.

The recent failure of Whatsapp obviously made many users look urgently for alternatives to the popular Messenger. If you have now installed Messenger Signal, the following tip may help you.

You switched from Whatsapp to Signal and now want to forward a message received in Signal to an old Whatsapp contact. But there is a problem.

If you press and hold an existing message in Signal, the menu with which you can forward the message, among other things, appears (the “right arrow icon”). But this is only possible within Signal, so you can only forward the message to another Signal contact.

However, if you want to forward the signal message to a contact via WhatsApp, for example, you have two options:

  • You press the signal message longer and select the icon for copying from the menu that appears (the two overlapping sheets with the creased upper right corner). Then open Whatsapp and paste the text there by pressing and holding the input field. This works not only with text, but also with photos. Then press Submit. Complete.

  • You take a screenshot of the screen and paste this image file into Whatsapp and forward it. You can take screenshots on an Android smartphone by holding down the power button and the volume down button. For an iPhone X, 11, or 12, press the power button and the volume up button. With older iPhones, on the other hand, press the power button and the home button. Attention: Take a close look at the screenshot. Not that there is anything embarrassing on it that you don’t want to forward. If necessary, cut the picture before sending it.
