The Top Gun: Maverick expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator is now available for free.

The expansion “Top Gun: Maverick” for the “Microsoft Flight Simulator” announced a few days ago has been released, as Microsoft announces. You can download the free expansion for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Cloud Gaming and Windows PC.

Microsoft had originally planned the release for 2021, but then postponed it to May 27, 2022. Because the Flight Simulator extension is to be released at the same time as the theatrical release of the new Top Gun film with Tom Cruise. And “Top Gun: Maverick” has just started in cinemas.

That’s in the free DLC for Microsoft Flight Simulator

The free update includes a Top Gun: Maverick Edition livery for the US F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter jet, three training missions for the Super Hornet and, as a special treat, a landing on an aircraft carrier – this landing maneuver is considered to be particularly challenging. The training missions are designed to train Microsoft Flight Simulator players to learn unconstrained takeoffs, high-speed maneuvers and low-altitude stunts arguably seen in the movie Top Gun: Maverick.

After training, there are five more challenges, such as traversing gorges and overcoming mountains at high speeds. Microsoft also promises virtual flight in an unprecedented hypersonic aircraft with speeds of Mach 10 and a mission to the stratosphere, the second layer of the earth’s atmosphere.
