(DH) – The health crisis can have unexpected repercussions. Especially in the field of sport. It was indeed the covid-19 crisis, which affected all the resources of clubs and associations, which served as an accelerator for negotiations between the Blue Boys Muhlenbach and RM Hamm Benfica. The two capital football clubs could soon form a single entity. A condition, however, that the members of the two associations vote in favor of the project before the FLF confirms this decision on Monday.

“I informed the federation that the covid-19 pandemic had led to an exceptional situation,” comments Marc Theisen, the lawyer representing the interests of the two clubs and former president of COSL. As the deadline agreed by the FLF came to an end this Friday, the latter extended the deadline by 48 hours to allow the two clubs to collect the vote – by correspondence – of their members before presenting a complete dossier to the board of directors. administration of the federation.

All the conditions, to date, seem to be met. The FLF could therefore officially announce the merger on May 18. The club born from this new merger, the ninth in the capital in terms of football, will evolve among the elite next season, the Muhlenbach club having started the season in BGL Ligue. After the final whistle of the competition, on April 28, the Blue Boys finished the red lantern while the RMHB finished the season in Promotion of Honor in sixth place.
