Toyota Aygo X (2022): This is what the mini SUV offers

With the new Aygo X, Toyota is beating them Microcar a new course. Because unlike the two previous generations (2005 to 2014; 2014 to 2021) the third generation of the smallest Toyota for Mini crossover approach. It is conceivable, however, that Toyota could also offer the Aygo X with an electric drive. The price is likely to go up due to the growth in size and the SUV-like look. AUTO BILD expects a starting price of around 14,000 euros for the market launch in spring 2022.

Under the sheet metal of the Aygo X is the modified platform (TNGA-B) from Yaris and Yaris Cross. This not only gives the Aygo X a larger trunk volume (231 liters or 829 liters with the rear bench seat folded down), but also grows in practically every direction:

That Interior design with the spacey dashboard is unusual, but even big ones find a decent space in the front. The multifunction steering wheel makes a grown-up and tidy impression. There is one for an extra charge nine inch touchscreen (Series: seven inches), and the infotainment is capable of both smartphone connection Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as over-the-air updates. The choice of materials is typical of the smallest car: the omnipresent Hard plastic joins in front and behind painted sheet metal in the doors. When tall people have taken their seats in front, will but demands a lot of willingness to compromise from the backbenchers – For most people, however, it should easily be enough for driving through the city. The opening windows in the rear doors and the fluttering trunk cover are rustic – the Aygo X does not cover more than the basic needs of individual mobility.

When it comes to drive, Toyota relies on the tried and tested. The well-known one works under the hood Three-cylinder petrol engine without charging. The engineers get from one liter of displacement 72 HP and up to 93 Nm torquesent to the front wheels. Sounds like little, but the output of the engine meets a very low curb weight. Depending on the equipment, the Aygo X should only weigh between 940 and 1015 kilograms. Switching is done either by manual five-speed gearbox or via a continuously variable automatic transmission called S-CVT, which is said to have been trained to be quiet responsive.
