14 days of isolation. This is now the fate reserved for people coming from the Grand Duchy from this Friday. A measure aimed at limiting the spread of covid-19.

The UK serves as the screw for foreigners. The British authorities announced on Tuesday evening the mandatory quarantine of Luxembourg residents. A measure in force, “in principle”, since Wednesday at midnight, specifies the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Travelers from Luxembourg are now required to self-isolate for a period of 14 days. On arrival, Luxembourg residents must also complete a form.

While some countries such as Germany allow entry into their territory upon presentation of proof, this is not the case for the United Kingdom. A medical certificate or proof of a negative covid test does not therefore constitute a ground for exemption from the obligation of self-isolation.

On the other hand, transit by air remains possible without the obligation to self-isolate “in the event that you do not have to pass border control”, specifies the ministry. However, regulations may vary slightly depending on the final destination, i.e. England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.
