‘Trump has achieved more than you’

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Bert Koenders sat at the table at Jinek last night, among other things to discuss Donald Trump’s legacy abroad. According to him, the president has achieved little in that area, and that resulted in an interesting Twitter discussion among viewers.
In addition to Bert Koenders, former member of the European Parliament Marietje Schaken, America correspondent Michiel Vos and JA21 list leader Joost Eerdmans also joined Jinek.
What has Donald Trump achieved abroad?
Donald Trump has damaged a lot as president, but of course there are also things to be praised. The mainstays of himself and his supporters are the Middle East peace treaty, the elimination of Iranian Qassem Soleimani and ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and the meeting with Kim Jong-un. He is also admired for his approach to China, although his own party also criticized the harsh tone and erratic approach. Above all, unlike predecessors Barack Obama and George W. Bush, he did not wage war.

Critics nuance Trump’s legacy abroad. The peace treaty in the Middle East would be a slap in the face of Palestine, the Qassem Soleimani attack a dangerous gamble, and there is a lot to say. The truth will lie in the middle, Koenders put it away as little or nothing.

Criticism of Bert Koenders after Jinek’s performance
Apparently this subject is sensitive. Bert Koenders, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Rutte II cabinet, was trending on Twitter. There was criticism and he was defended. “Sometimes you don’t trust your ears. Former minister Koenders dares to argue with dry eyes to Jink that Trump has achieved little in foreign matters, while unlike other presidents he has achieved a breakthrough in the Middle East in recent decades, ”said entrepreneur Cor Verkade. A fiery discussion ensued.
Indeed, Cor, I think Trump scored better on foreign policy than Mr. Koenders on BUZA. https://t.co/YJl9DiJ6yF

Trump: 1. Eliminate ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. 2. Bomb Syria after poison gas attack on innocent civilians. 3. Eliminate Iranian fascist General Soleimani. 4. Peacemaking in the Middle East. Koenders: Nothing at all. https://t.co/vJAXY4FEZ9

What would Koenders have contributed to peace in the Middle East?

There was not only criticism of Koenders’ performance at Jinek.
Koenders is absolutely right, Cor. You have trouble seeing the bigger picture. Sponsoring fascists, fuel oil lobbyists, putinverstehers and wappies has apparently affected your judgment and / or common sense. #FvD # YES21 https://t.co/OHHeY1lf1L

Koenders is of course completely right. https://t.co/uRrD6K90lk
