Publisher Ubisoft wants to “save resources” and for this reason will be shutting down the online modes and download content of several older games from September 1st. The so-called “decommissioning” affects not only PC titles, but also games for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.
Many Assassin’s Creed titles affected
Among other things, the strategy title “Anno 2070” for PC is affected. Here, from September 1st, both the multiplayer mode and the online functions will be deactivated. The “Assassin’s Creed” series is also on the collar. Beginning in September, Assassin’s Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed 3, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD, and Assassin’s Creed Revelations DLC content and online modes will be disabled.
VR game will not work at all from September
If you want to play the action title “Ghost Recon Future Soldier” in solo mode after September 1st, you have to put your console in offline mode. Multiplayer is no longer available as of this date. Online multiplayer will also be dropped for Far Cry 3 and Splinter Cell: Blacklist. The virtual reality title “Space Junkies” will be completely deactivated from September 1st. Since this is a pure multiplayer title, the game will no longer work at all from autumn. Ubisoft provides a complete list of all affected games here.
