The 17-time international of Orange will become an individual trainer and coach of top talents within FC Utrecht. In consultation with the club management, Emanuelson will check per season whether he will continue playing football. “In addition to the fact that the trainer knows what qualities Urby has on the field, he has also developed more and more as a mentor within the group of players in the past period,” says technical director Jordy Zuidam. “His advice and guidance as a seasoned professional is very useful for both the players of the first team and for the top talents of the future.”
Last summer, Emanuelson’s expiring contract with FC Utrecht was not extended. He did, however, remain attached to the selection of trainer John van den Brom on an amateur basis. The midfielder played once in the Eredivisie this season. The former player of Ajax, AC Milan, Fulham and AS Roma, among others, has now received a professional contract again until the summer of 2023.
