Vitesse has remained upright with ten men without any problems against a weak FC Emmen. The team of trainer Thomas Letsch won 3-1 and is therefore again at the top of the premier division next to Ajax with 21 points.
The returned Oussama Tannane, who was missing in recent weeks due to a suspension and a corona infection, gave the go-ahead for an easy afternoon in Arnhem. The attacking midfielder used a penalty and hit after a nice slalom, with which he put Vitesse at 2-0 within half an hour.
A red card for Riechedly Bazoer seemed to trigger the turnaround after half an hour. After the intervention of the VAR, the midfielder got red instead of yellow for a foul on Sergio Peña. But also with ten men, Vitesse was much too strong for Emmen. Loïs Openda increased the concerns among trainer Dick Lukkien’s team by even making it 3-0 just before half time.
In the second half, Luciano Carty caused a revival at Emmen at his premier division debut. Michael de Leeuw made it 3-1 on a pass from Carty and the 19-year-old substitute himself had a great chance of the connection goal, but shot wide wide.
Emmen is still waiting for the first victory this season and is penultimate with three points.
