VW Polo WRC Tuning: TTG participants with awesome 420 hp
In the new TV series “Tuning Trophy Germany” from DMAX and AUTO BILD Sidney Hoffmann and other jurors are looking for Germany’s best tuning car. The field of participants is as diverse as it is exciting – everything from show cars to track tools is included. Josef Mörtls belongs to the latter category 2012 VW Polo WRC, who competes for the cup with massive performance data.
The foiling contains a total of three layers and makes the little Wolfsburg really eye-catching.
200 hp more than the production Polo
Overall, the 34-year-old owner has had a full within five years 20,000 euros invested in his Polo. The result is impressive. Even optically, the Polo is a real eye-catcher, which is especially huge elaborate foiling worth around 6,000 euros. Wider fenders, air outlets in the bonnet and multi-spoke OZ aluminum rims in 17 inches do the rest. The highlight is waiting under the bonnet: The Two-liter turbo four-cylinder after a conversion by SL Tuningsolutions does a full 220 instead of the standard 420 hp, falling over the front wheels! The increase was achieved, among other things, by a new one TM460 turbocharger including Wagner intercooler and a complete exhaust system. The latter comes from Edel01 and measures three inches from the turbocharger.
With a roll bar, fire extinguisher and Recaro shells, the Polo comes pretty close to the rally model.
Racing accessories also in the interior
A more powerful fuel pump supplies the engine with fuel, while a new Sachs clutch and Nankang semi-slick tires transfer power. A KW coilover kit, Recaro bucket seats, a fire extinguisher and a roll bar including a net are among the other modifications. Mörtels Polo is far from finished. His dream: to transplant a five-cylinder into the bow. The performance should then increase even further. It will be interesting to see how the Polo in the current expansion stage will do against Ford Focus ST and BMW E39 M5 at the Tuning Trophy Germany!
