I.Glide majestically along the country lane in the luxurious Range Rover. Leave the masses of cars on the motorway behind with the Porsche Cayenne. Or pull the boat trailer to the Baltic Sea with the Volvo XC90. For many, that’s a tempting idea. A big hurdle with these Luxury SUVs however are the high ones acquisition cost. Because new models from Audi, Land Rover, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes or Volvo – well equipped – can compete in price with a small apartment. However, if it doesn’t necessarily have to be the current generation, then these models can also be found cheap offers, because the Depreciation is often particularly high in the high-priced models. Some used luxury SUVs are already priced from around 10,000 euros offered.

An SUV bargain can have costly consequences
The luxurious BMW X5 II is not lost even off the beaten track. Ordinary used cars start at around 13,000 euros.
When buying a used SUV, however, there are a few things to consider, otherwise you will stumble into the cost trap. This is especially true for them XL modelswhere all parts are sized larger and Wear parts are correspondingly more expensive are. Take tires, for example: A new set in 19-inch format can quickly cost more than 1,000 euros. It is not uncommon for the ten-year-old luxury SUVs a few kilometers under your belt. This makes it all the more important to understand Maintenance history and a close look at the wearing parts. To do this, you should know exactly the weak points of the respective models. More than ever, the following applies to large SUVs: Better a few thousand euros more in one neat model than being overwhelmed by the cost of clearing a repair jam in the coming months.
Be careful with diesel SUVs without a particulate filter
Ideally, the car has been regularly maintained by the dealer and the seller has a thick folder with him Workshop invoices on hand, which precisely document the condition of the car. Frequent drivers who want to save fuel with a diesel SUV should make sure that a particle filter has already been installed or retrofitted. If the retrofitting is still pending, around 700 to 1200 euros can be calculated. But even with particle filters there is a risk of driving bans in the future.
